This video is about the legendary polar explorer Will Steger, famous for crossing the Antarctic by foot, and how he’s inspiring a community by preserving the long forgotten craft of ice harvesting. Before the age of refrigeration, ice was need in order to keep foods cool through the summer months. They would keep the ice cut by the professional ice harvesters, sprinkle saw dust over it, and the ice would keep all the way to the next winter. How ingenious is that!
