The Sami People (the indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting the Arctic) refer to the period of time during the winter when the sun does not rise above the horizon in the northern areas of Scandinavia. Jeff Allen visits there during the summer and winter every year as a way of escaping our world of credit cards, cell phones and reality tv shows.
