Jonathan Bostock was cleaning up his property before moving out and found a beautiful, but strange, outdoor structure – commonly referred to as a folly, or grotto. The structure is stunning to behold, but upon closer inspection, Jonathan noticed it was built with very different material than normal. Oyster shells, animal bones and teeth make up the intricate designs on the building, but you don’t even notice it until you move in for a closer look at the patterns. “Most people would not realize the decoration was bone, it is so detailed and you tend to notice the pattern, not the material it is comprised of,” writes National Trust garden consultant Pam Smith, in an email.
